The 30-Minute Affiliate Marketing System
A lot of us pay thousands of dollars for affiliate marketing help, especially those of us who have day jobs and don’t shy away at the idea of an expensive affiliate marketing system that can help us quit our jobs. The truth is, though, you don’t usually need that. To be certain, a good course can cut the learning curve down - but it’s not a requirement for success.
The 30-Minute Marketing System is incredibly simple and costs little or no money to implement. Each day, regardless of whatever else you do, spend 30 minutes actually DOING something. Not reading. Not thinking of ideas. Not idly typing in potential domain names. Spend 30 minutes each day creating content, building campaigns, tweaking your landing pages, or doing social media for one of your sites. Set a timer if you have to.
30 minutes is not a huge amount of time, and it puts pressure on you to accomplish a lot quickly before the time is up. It leaves much less time to sit around worrying about whether something will work or wondering if it’s possible to do something. Instead, you’ll just try it.
Now, if you’re already doing just fine with productivity, don’t switch to this system. 30 minutes will probably result in less total work accomplished. However, if you find that you’re never getting anything done, consider trying this for just a couple of weeks. As you start to break through your own productivity blocks, you may find that you don’t need the 30 minute timer any more. Or, you may find that you’re ready to move it up to 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or even longer. The points of this affiliate marketing system is to start taking action. 30 minutes is enough to get something real done, but not so much that you are going to be intimidated.
What do you think? Have you ever tried anything like this? Would you?
Advertising in the Internet Age
For any business, one of the best things you can do to increase your visibility and boost your clientele is to advertise yourself effectively. While this used to be very difficult or expensive for people, the digital age has made it a bit easier. With the prevalence of the internet, it’s not only easier for people to start a business, but it’s also easier to market that business. While radio spots and television ads garner unprecedented exposure, they are usually far too expensive for the average startup.
That’s why so many people who are looking to generate an internet income turn right back to the internet for marketing. If you are trying to find out what is affiliate marketing or how to utilize social networks, there is a plethora of free advice to be had. There are so many forums where you can post videos or promotions for your business at no cost. Maybe you’ve created a funny and creative ad campaign touting your business. If that’s the case, post it on YouTube or other forums where videos can be posted and shared for free. Or you could even place an ad on Craigslist. Whatever the venue, if it doesn’t cost you can any money, all you are out is your time. And if it garners you any interest, you can count it as a success.
Building an Affiliate Marketing System That Lasts
Every new affiliate wants to build their own affiliate marketing system, but few set out to build one that lasts. If you brought this to their attention, though, you’d find that a lot of affiliates are actually in denial of that fact. Maybe it’s because so few affiliates have proper business training. Maybe it’s just a case of misunderstanding reality. Maybe it’s just optimism.
Affiliates who start making money rarely stop to think about how they can broaden their strategy so that they’re less vulnerable to industry changes that could put them out of business overnight. They don’t think, “Well, I’m making good money with this PPC campaign now, perhaps I should use this earning time to build out some SEO sites that will also earn steady money.”
Any introductory class in Economics or portfolio theory will teach you that investing in a single area can give you big returns, but that it’s also very risky. With just one stock, a single market event can wipe out your entire portfolio in an instant. Do you want that for your affiliate business?
Although you don’t want to broaden too much before you’re making money, it’s always important to have some idea about your long-term strategy as you progress. And of course, put a bit of those profits in the bank!
Affiliate Marketing Systems for Success: Have a Friend
A lot of us are very concerned with training courses and simple affiliate marketing systems, but there’s actually a better “affiliate marketing system” that anyone can take advantage of. It goes back to our days in school and the “buddy system”. Remember that? The teachers would pair off students so everyone would have a better chance of getting back to the classroom. The same thing applies with affiliate marketing. If you pair off with another affiliate, you’re going to have a much better chance of achieving profitability.
But why is it so much better to have a partner? There are a few reasons. First, a partner holds you accountable. If you don’t do any work on your affiliate campaigns, your partner is going to nag you. If you get frustrated, your partner can help you through it. If you have a question, you suddenly have two brains to pick instead of just your own. And of course, by providing those benefits to someone else, you’re diminishing the inherent loneliness in working on a computer by yourself all day.
Of course, an affiliate partner can also dramatically improve your networking. By having a close friend in the industry, you’ll gain access to their network, and you’ll be able to pair others in your network up with your partner as is appropriate. It makes you more of a “connector” and people tend to remember that kind of help.
In general, there’s no good reason to avoid meeting other affiliates and cultivating close relationships with those that fit you best. Whether you meet them on message boards, chat rooms, or real life events, the important thing is that you have someone to share the day-to-day grind with.
Affiliate Marketing: System for Finding Competitors’ Landing Pages
When it comes to affiliate marketing, system is key. Whether it’s a system for sitting down to work, or a system for cranking out new campaigns, you need to have one - probably more than one. What I’m going to talk about now, though, is a solid system for finding your competitors so you can do solid research on what’s currently working for competitors.
- Define your niche. Pick an offer so we know what we’re looking for.
- Pick keywords. Use a free tool like Google’s External Keyword Tool to find related keywords.
- Search Google. Look at both free and paid competitors. Pay especially close attention to which relevant keywords have fewer competitors - these may be hidden opportunities, but it could also be a sign that the keyword isn’t profitable. Either way, it’s probably worth testing if there isn’t much competition.
- Search EZineArticles.com. Look for articles that optimize for your keywords, along with AdSense ads on the page. If you see a lot of articles on a topic, there’s a good chance that it’s a winner for affiliates. Check the article bylines to see what pages the articles point to. This may give you some insight about how to build your landing page.
- Check popular social media sites like Squidoo and Twitter. Do you see affiliates pushing the product(s) you’re interested in?
- Check PPV traffic if applicable. If you have a computer you don’t use, you can install popular browser toolbars that serve popup ads, then visit related sites and see if other affiliates have ads popping up.
With a little practice, you’ll have no trouble differentiating the affiliate pages from portal sites, authority pages, or merchants. Once you reach that point, you’ll be steps ahead of many other affiliates in figuring out what’s working for other people and how you could fit yourself into a crowded market.
Learn to Spread the Word
Although the idea of inventing a valuable new product or service from scratch is certainly a glamorous one, it’s not necessarily realistic. Most inventors these days hold numerous degrees in the sciences, and they make their discoveries at the microscopic level. In truth, one of the best ways to make money online is to take preexisting ideas and give them a slightly new spin. In some cases, it’s as easy as finding an untapped demographic and making them interested in what you’re selling.
Just like with brick-and-mortar stores, market research plays heavily into the development and spread of franchises. The originator of the product or service will trust the company’s branding and reputation to a few select franchise owners, who will in turn spread the word to new customers. Online, this process is known as affiliate marketing. For an upstart business owner, learning affiliate marketing can be a smart, fool-proof way of getting ahead on the Internet.
Is a PPV Affiliate Marketing System Right for You?
With Google on a rampage lately, it seems like PPV courses have become the affiliate marketing system of choice for many. Even still, a lot of people don’t understand what PPV is - and they don’t understand if it’s right for them. Before buying into an expensive system, ask yourself whether it suits you.
What is PPV Marketing?
PPV marketing is when advertisers serve ads through pop ups and pop unders, based on sites and keywords that they target. These ads are paid for on a per-view basis, and they are not considered spyware. The way they’re powered is that people download games and screensaves and other applications they want. When they install them, the company also lets them know that they will be installing a toolbar on their browser. Once installed, that toolbar can generate popups at any time on the user’s computer.
Who Should Do PPV Marketing?
Although PPV marketing doesn’t require the kind of writing skills or page building skills that might be required with article marketing or Google ads, it still requires some talent.
- Technical ability - users should be able to understand the multitude of tools that simplify the occasionally overwhelming task of choosing targets and implementing tracking.
- Good startup capital - PPV networks typically require initial deposits of anywhere from $50-1000. It can also take a significant amount of money to test out traffic sources and get something profitable. If you’re counting your pennies, it’s best to stick to cheaper forms of advertising until you get a steady income.
For those who are well-suited to it, PPV represents and enormous income opportunity right now. If you’re not, though, it can also be a great way to lose a lot of money. Always know yourself and know your weaknesses!
Affiliate Marketing Training That Works
I’m going to let you in on a little secret about affiliate marketing training. It’s one you won’t hear often, but it’s also one that anyone who’s been in affiliate marketing very long knows to be true. Here it is: There is no single magical program that will make you a millionaire.
“What??!” you’re thinking, “But what about all the sales letters and their promises??”
I’m not saying that sales letters are lying, or that you can’t find a system that will teach you things that can make you rich. Actually, what I’m saying is just the opposite. Virtually any recent, reputable training program out there can teach you the skills that you can use to create a solid income or even get wealthy online. What matters is that you follow the training, apply what it teaches, and continually work to improve and refine your skills.
It also matters that you choose a training program that teaches promotional methods that suit YOUR skills. If you can’t make a landing page to save your life, a course on PPC marketing with Google may involve too many new skills for you to have success in a reasonable amount of time. On the other hand, if you can barely put together sentences in your chosen language, a course on article marketing probably isn’t the best use of your money.
Basically, I want to encourage you to stop buying every product on the market and to stop worrying so much about finding THE system. You may not find the right one on your first try, but ultimately, the system that is going to work is the one that suits your skillset and the one you actually follow through on.
Focus: The Key to a Good Affiliate Marketing System
For an affiliate marketing system to work, it absolutely must be focused. This may sound obvious, but far too many new affiliates waste time learning numerous different promotional methods, when what they really need is to master a single method and find a bit of success before they try to tackle additional methods.
Affiliate marketing evolves far too rapidly for any single affiliate to become an expert in all promotional methods. PPC affiliates face constant changes in landing page rules with AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Bing, while SEO affiliates have to keep track of neverending changes to search engine algorithms. Social media affiliates, on the other hand, have to deal with the changing rules of each site they use, along with the way those sites are indexed and arranged. Simple changes can force affiliates to change their methods literally overnight.
Keeping up with all those changes can be difficult for even seasoned affiliates. There’s nothing worse than going on vacation for a week or two, only to come back and find numerous campaigns dead because of something that happened while you were away. As a newbie, focusing on one method makes it easier to be competent in your chosen area, and it reduces the amount of time needed to become successful.
Have you chosen your area of specialization yet? Or are you still spinning your wheels and wasting time reading about a dozen different techniques you won’t have time to implement? It’s time to take a hard look at what you’re doing and see if it’s really working for you.
Should You Buy the — System?
I’m constantly running into marketing newbies who ask me if they should buy a particular internet marketing system. Usually, the answer is no, but it’s incredibly hard to convince someone of that. Most of the time, what they’re actually looking for is someone who will look them in the eye and say, “Yes, if you buy that system, you’ll make tons of money and be able to tell your boss to go to you-know-where and then you can be the hero to your wife and kids when you bring home suitcases full of cash.”
I hate to break it to you, but it doesn’t work that way. There are a ton of incredibly good systems out there, but you have to think it through logically before you whip out your credit card. Next time you’re thinking about investing in a marketing system, ask yourself these questions.
- Can I afford it and still have enough money to pay my bills and continue advertising and testing new traffic sources? If not, the system probably isn’t going to do you a lot of good. Why buy an expensive PPC coaching program if you won’t have anything left over to spend on clicks? Instead, look for a more affordable alternative or skip the product entirely and use your money for testing.
- Am I the audience this product was truly meant for? Even though the sales letters will try to convince you that anyone can use their product, you have to see past that. If you’re buying a $2000 tool, you’ll need to be spending and earning thousands of dollars before you ever see a slight return on that investment. Unless you have an extremely large budget, unrelenting discipline, and a solid foundation of marketing knowledge, there’s a good chance that products like that aren’t meant for you.
- Can I return it for a refund if I’m not happy? If not, you should probably steer clear. It’s true that refunds are no fun for the merchant, but you need to know that if the product doesn’t live up to your expectations, you can get your money back.
Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying that internet marketing systems aren’t helpful. Many successful marketers have started out with systems they purchased from other marketers. Just make sure that you’re shopping in your price range and getting a product that you can actually benefit from. Look beyond the flashy sales letters and you’ll avoid a lot of heartache down the road.
