website-marketingOperating an internet business these days is tough work. There is a lot of competition out there and a lot of different theories as to how to stay on top. I’ve tried several different approaches to growing my business and have found a few that work well. They will take some effort on your end, but you’ll be happy with the results.

Of the internet marketing ideas I have tried increasing visibility through search engines has been the biggest boost to my business. You’ll want to start out by writing a few articles related to your business and posting them to online directories. Social bookmarking is also a great way to reach out to potential customers. All you have to do is include your URL and a brief description and then submit that information to social bookmarking sites. Finally, contact other webmasters whose websites relate to yours and ask for a link exchange. Most webmasters with a basic understanding of search engine optimization will agree to the swap.

After you’ve developed your website, written reviews, posted links, and made good contacts, you’re going to need to stay on top of your work load and ahead of the curve. Google offers many free tools that you should take advantage of to better your affiliate marketing business.

There are three affiliate marketing tools you’ll want to use from Google: Google Alerts, Google Blogger, and Google Groups. Set up Google Alerts to keep tabs on your website, your product, and even your name. This will serve as a good way to scout the internet for sites that can be helpful in expanding your business. Create a blog and post frequently with links back to your main website. This will increase your visibility within Google. Finally, create a Google Group so you can update your clients and customers with the latest information. It’s an easy way to advertise your business.

earn-extra-moneyDo you think affiliate marketing is for you? In this rough economy, many people are turning to affiliate marketing as a means of bringing in extra income. It is possible to grow a successful internet affiliate marketing business, but it takes some know-how and a lot of hard work.

There are several philosophies when it comes to learning affiliate marketing. If you’re already internet and computer savvy, and have a vast knowledge of a niche market, than you may want to learn on the job. You could also take the time to look at online training resources from online forums, weblogs, podcasts, and specialty websites. There are companies that sell training courses, but make sure you do your homework beforehand; affiliate marketing lacks industry standards for training and certification, so beware of self-proclaimed gurus.

connecting-with-businessesMany people are still baffled by the concept of affiliate marketing. They’ve probably heard the term used in conversation, but have just nodded along and pretended to understand. If you’re one of those people, have no fear because all will be explained.

What is affiliate marketing? To put it simply affiliate marketing is the business of connecting consumers to businesses. An affiliate marketer is the middle man of the internet era. Let’s pretend you want to buy a dog bed. The first thing you would probably do is type ‘dog bed’ into a search engine. You end up clicking on a link that is actually my affiliate marketing website that reviews several types of dog beds. You read through some of the reviews and then you click a link taking you to the website of the dog bed you wish to purchase. When you buy the bed, which you found through my website, I earn a commission on that sale. Voila! Affiliate marketing in a nut shell.
